A maverick in Oshibana, Laura charted a new path in this ancient botanical art form to preserve and display nature’s beauty like none other.
The estate of Laura Andrews invites galleries, museums, art schools, and botanical gardens to showcase her masterpieces and encourages qualified artists to apply for the 2024 Regifting Nature Grant.
The Art
This is new and totally unique art in the whole world of art.
Laura redefined Oshibana, the ancient Japanese art of pressing and preserving botanical materials, by meticulously hand painting each component to preserve its colorful vitality, arranging it on tempered glass, and ensconsing it in resin.
The Artist
I am a committed artist who has a lot of beauty to add to this world. I make art that glorifies and honors nature.
After years of perfecting her methods, Laura was a dynamic force, creating dozens of masterpieces.
The Artistic Process
Laying out a composition of a serene meadow...it is like painting, I paint with real plants and flowers.
Laura often included the whole plant in her meticulously foraged gardenscapes.
The Epilogue
This is an artist journey that may not happen…
Indeed, Laura realized her artistic vision, but not her artistic dream.
